So I have a few 12" x12" and I was thinking of making at least part of a high rise building on them with some foam core I bought. My idea was that they would have to be used on the edge of the board with the back open to move minitures around on the inside. The buildings would be 8 inches deep leaving 4 inches for colums bacloconies or other things in the front of them. I was then thinking of making each side detachable some how one to make it more easy to get to the inside of it and two so you could put 2 or 3 of them together to make a larger building. I was also thinking of putting some sort of elevator in each one for people to get up and down I am still thinking about a staircase as well not sure if I should do both or one or differ it between each one. Finally I was thinking about making a lobby that was maybe 2 stories tall on the bottom with some sort of balcony and large open windows to the front of the building and then was not sure how high to actually go with the buildings I was thinking at least 5 stories maybe 6 or 7. as for each floor within the building I was thinking of just like 2 walls on the inside of each floor seperating windows.
Any thoughts or ideas on it would be great.

Sounds like you have a fully formed idea already. Most modern highrises are concrete slab on square column affirs arranged around more-or-less solid elevator shafts. Foamcore should be in-scale for floor slabs. Square dowels cut to a set length might make really good columns. Don't forget to make floor-to-floor heights big enough to get your hands in to move figures.

ya that is one thing I am still looking at the actual height of each one right now I am thinking about 2 inches each floor unless I find something at the hobby store that has something good to work and does not need to be cut to size. The other debate I am having is if to make one side removable or both to make it esier to get into the building. The idea is o be able to at least take the sides off of two building and push them together for one larger building. The elevator shaft to is a matter of just how simple or complex I want to make it. Putting in walls on each side of it could remove the need for other support on the back end other wise I was think of not actually putting in walls for it so you can just put down something over the floor of where the elevator is for simplicity.

If you want to do a really simple design. Remember the building can be part of a warzone, and what is typically the first to go is the exterior curtainwall glass and mullions, leaving floor slabs, concrete columns, and a honeycomb of concrete or CMU exterior walls and degrading gypsum board interior walls. While 40k has the conceptual problem that all terrain tends to be made to look like has been destroyed by WWII bombing, leaving only rubble piles and corners, infinity seems to have the opposite problem a lot of times, all war happens in pristine townscapes.

Ya that is one of the other things I was thinking of a mainly glass front or even holo glass front and posibly make it where you can pull those out as well so it looks more war torn.

Glass storefront/curtainwall it pretty easy to do once you get the technique down. Not sure where your scale model skill level is, but I used to do it for architectural models. Get thin clear acrylic sheet (plastruct). Use pen to line out muntin and mullion window frame pattern. Use these as guides to tape off, then paint between tape first one direction then the other. Alternatively, use guides for gluing down prepainted dimensional PVC. Cool thing about thin clear acrylic is that it bends to fit curves and such.

Don't want to step on your toes, but since we will probably need several building to do neo-tokyo for "capsules vs clowns" did some axon facade mock-ups in CAD. I'mm bring them for discussion tommorow.
