I am starting this thread in order to have a discussion of hacking in N3. In my uneducated opinion, hacking has become the "magic phase" of Infinity and gives you a reason to use hackers other than ITS stuff, even if you aren't tag or remote heavy. That being said, I feel like I do not have enough understanding of what is working and what people think will work with what armies.
I have seen some tags get slapped around by hacking so I am wondering if hackers are a "must have" or if they are just a fun toy to play with.

As a nomad player, hackers are always a necessity. Assault/regular/plus devices are an advantage against HI, of which (outside of Ariadna/Nomads) you'll probably always find at least 1, if not 2-3. Locking down a HI is very useful. If you bring a TAG, you need to bring a hacker. (defensive/hacking/plus) Otherwise you're asking to be hacked. And I think they removed the "only one chance to hack a TAG on the active turn" nonsense. If you have AD Combat Drop troops, a hacker is a good idea to help them land where you want them. (as long as it can run the appropriate program). They are just extra useful in N3.

Fairydust for everyone!
I need to play N3 but it looks like I'll almost always be running a hacker of some variety.

Which brings up an interesting question as to what EVO repeaters will be good for in N3, as some of what they do has been rolled into the current hacking rules.

...magic?

Pure evo speculation
Allow coordinated hacking to increase the burst of attacks
Grant tag fairy dust
Increase bts of units on the board
Allow multiple support hacks to be in play
Further bonus to drop troops.
