Moto.Tronica mats

So being a new player with a limited budget, I opted to pick up two of these sets:



For the two mats I now have which are printed on heavy stock glossy poster paper, is there anything I can do to make the playing surface stronger? In other words, has anyone adhered this to 1" thick blue foam base? If I did so, it'd be a 4'x4' finished size. 

I also thought about connecting the two and laminating it. Or just keep them as folded paper and invest in something more substantial later?

I laminated the ones that came in ice storm. It holding up well.

I thought about laminating it. Where can I do that in Chicago?

I did mine at office max. It was around $13.
